Playin' around

Claire loves to be silly and we love to catch her in the act!

Heading to the sandbox to play.

Since Jeff has been bringing Claire to the zoo frequently, she has become pretty comfortable with combing the goats hair.

Claire loves watching the otter swimming at the zoo.

Daddy tends to spoil our little girl and bought her a giraffe when they were at the zoo this week. Claire loves it and we have to be sure her giraffe is in the crib at bedtime every night!

Feeding the Giraffe

I was lucky enough to wake Claire on Friday with plans to spend the day at the zoo. Sunny and 90 sounds like a good day to go find some animals to look at. Claire and I had talked about it the night before and she was most excited to see the meerkats (I'm not joking, she said "meerkat")and the giraffes. We picked up a "plan your day at the zoo" sheet and found some interesting things to do. They have a program where you can purchase lettuce and feed the giraffes at certain times. I was sure that Claire would freak out as we approached the giraffe but she just stared in awe. It was great fun watching her face as the giraffe stuck out his tongue not two feet from her. She didn't say much until afterward when she just kept repeating, "giraffe hungy". Since Claire wants to play with her animals 7 or 8 times a day,I think it is important to show her those animals in real life as well. She had so much fun that she couldn't wait until we were out of the parking lot to start dreaming about more animals. I love my two days off.

"Stay cat"

Claire was having tons of fun the other day playing with the cat. I am not sure Sophie had as much fun however! Claire placed her animals on top of the cat and then tried to sit on the cat. It was funny to watch them interact and to my surprise, the cat put up with a lot from Claire!

Counting

Claire has been heavy into counting recently. She can only count to ten but she is having fun doing it. Today she wanted to count everything from plastic animals to daddy's toes. I find it utterly fascinating on how quick she has been to pick up counting. Its fun to have her come up to me and ask to count or as she says; "Daddy count". I will start counting and before I can make it to ten she says "Claire turn". She will then count from one to ten and then say "again" and start all over. She usually does this four or five times before she finds something else to play with. I figure my next blog is going to be of her doing long division and square roots.
