Little Gym gymnastics/dance recital

Tonight Claire had her gymnastics/dance recital at the Little Gym.
She started the night off with showing us her gymnastics moves.
They focused on their routine on the beam...
and the skills they have been working on with the bar.
Pretty impressive handstand on the skinny beam!

After her gym routine, she went into the dance room to do her tap dance.

Finally, she ended with her ballet dance.

The girls ended the evening receiving trophies for their hard work.
Claire really seemed to enjoy showing off her skills she has been working hard
on over the past few months!

Our fun day at the zoo

We decided to go to the zoo today. I am so thankful that we did. It was perfect weather and the crowd was not bad at all. We got to see many of the animals in action and got to watch the gorillas in their new habitat. The best part of the zoo trip was watching Claire. She was so interested in reading about each animal, learning about their habitat and diet, and checking to see if they are endangered or not. Of course, she was also very interested in getting her picture taken with each statue she could find, as you can tell by the pictures!

Claire and Elliot's Lemonade stand!

Jeff helped Claire and Elliot run a lemonade stand yesterday.
First they had to make their sign and make their lemonade.
Once they were all set up, they had to make sure they were
refreshed before beginning their big job.
After drinking some water, there were some business decisions
that needed to be discussed...
After much conversation, they agreed to how their business would be run!

They figured the best way to get customers was to wave at
every car that drove by...
and it looks like that strategy worked because they had a total of
20 customers...
and they walked away with a pretty good profit for their first
job together!
 Nice work kids!

A fun Sunday together!

Just a girl and her dog before church this morning!
Claire's hair is finally long enough to do pig tails again. I know
Grandpa would be smiling right now if he were here since he loved
his little girl in pig tails!
After church and a movie, we got to get some exercise on the trampoline.
As always, Claire and her Dad were being crazy!

After getting all sweaty from jumping we decided to go directly into the pool.
This is the first swim of the summer for us and to our surprise, the water wasn't too
chilly (if you kept moving around!).
What a blessing to be able to spend such a fun day together as a family!

K2 Spring Showcase

Claire had her spring showcase for gymnastics this past weekend.
It was fun to watch her and see how much she has accomplished in
the short time she has been at K2. She started with her routine on the balance beam.

Then she went to the bars and did awesome!

She also had a floor routine but the pictures didn't turn out well.
She did great for her first show! We are so proud of her!

Claire's school birthday

Since Claire has a summer birthday, they celebrated at school on Friday. Jeff and I were both able to have lunch with her on her special day!
She was all smiles when she saw we brought her a big cupcake with sprinkles!

We always have to get at least one silly picture when we are together!
I got this note out of Claire's backpack when she got home from school on Friday.
She is just amazing! I can only pray that she will always feel this way about us!
Of course I will be keeping it to show her on the days when she isn't so fond of her parents!

The Little Gym

Claire has really shown progress on the bars these past few weeks. Her teacher is working on getting her comfortable on the high bar.

She was able to flip over the bar with minimal help!

A few fun pictures from our week

I had to work on Mother's day and the very best gift was when Claire stopped by to surprise me at work! I just can't get enough of this kid!
Claire has been learning about photosynthesis at school so Jeff got her some seeds
and let her grow some flowers in a pot. After watering them faithfully for about 5 days,
this is what has grown. She is so proud and loves to measure how much they grow each day.
Dad has been busy building a balance beam for Claire. She has really shown a love for gymnastics but has been slightly scared when she had to do her beam routine. Jeff helped her conquer that fear and now Claire jumps right up on the beam and is no longer afraid. The trouble now is getting the beam out of my living room!
Daddy even helped Claire work on some of her dance moves on the beam. Didn't know
Jeff could point and walk on his tiptoes so gracefully!

Belle had to have eye surgery a week ago. She was sent home with a cone around her head so she wouldn't scratch at her eye. She has not liked this one bit. We were not able to take her for walks or play with her. She has been one very bored puppy for the past 8 days. Here Claire is holding her while we wait to see the vet for her checkup. As you can see, Belle is less than excited!
This is the note Claire wrote in school to Belle. I thought it as very sweet of her to spend her writing workshop time thinking about her puppy.

Kindergarten science experiment

Claire got to do her very first science experiment for school this past weekend.
We had to pour oil and water into a bottle...

and add a few drops of blue food coloring.
After super gluing the top on, we can shake the bottle to make waves and watch the blue all
sink to the bottom. With our family all being sick this past weekend, we were very glad it wasn't a complicated experiment!
