What we did the week before school was to start...only to find out we now have another week before school starts!

Claire didn't have day camp this past week so Jeff and I each took a few vacation days to have some one on one time with Claire. We did so much fun stuff including SplashTown, Little Beakers, a few dinners out, and many hours spent playing game. We also got Claire's hair trimmed (couldn't cut too much off because it has to be long enough for a ponytail for swim practice).

We met one of Claire's good friends, Alexis, for dinner.
We stopped for a special breakfast at Ihop where Claire got the cupcake sprinkle pancake.
We made a trip to the dentist three times...first for her cleaning only to learn she had her first 2 cavities. Since they were on opposite sides of her mouth they could only do one at a time so we had to go the next two days to get them filled. Claire did a great job and handled it like a pro. Hopefully we don't have to do that again though!
Then we went to the post office to get Claire's passport.
Of course some craft time was involved..she did some stamping...
 and some bracelet making.
Today, when we find out school is canceled for another week and won't start until Sept 5th because of Hurricane Harvey, what is a girl to do but go run and play in the almost flooded streets?!

Glow party

Last weekend Claire had 4 birthday parties in 2 days! It was a busy but fun weekend. This party was at Urban Air and it was an evening party so everything glowed. Claire had a great time with her friends.

Claire and Savanna spent time making bracelet chains from the glow sticks and I got a few fun pics!

My little scientist hard at work!

Last weekend I was able to take Claire to Little Beakers for an hour of experimenting! We had a great time making all sort of gross stuff! I loved watching my daughter collect all the needed items, figure out the correct measurements, and get the experiment completed with minimal help.Where has the time gone and how has she gotten to be so old and independent? Be still my heart...

A special little project for some special people

The other evening Claire wanted to be crafty and make a special little craft for some very special people in our lives.
She insisted on painting her own hands,
placing them on the paper herself,
 and removing them all alone.
In the end, she made two turkeys on each page and mailed them out to G-Ma, MeMaw and Pawpaw, and Mamalu and PapaDo.

Galactic Starveyors VBS 2017

VBS was fantastic this year at Houston NW Church! Claire was able to have two of her good friends come with her and I was the group leader for her group. It was very fun to get to watch all the kids be engaged and excited to learn about Jesus!

Camp Buckner 2017

We were able to spend this past weekend at Camp Buckner. I cannot even begin to express how very proud I am of Claire. She tried so many new things for the very first time and didn't let fear keep her from enjoying all of the activities the camp had to offer. She got to go zip lining for the very first time and handled it like a pro! Then she went down a very high water slide and did the Blob. I got to blob her into the water and I guess I was a little too heavy because she almost reached the clouds! She also got to go kayaking for the first time and loved it! This was definitely an experience we were blessed to have and I am so thankful that she got to get a small glimpse into what church camp is like. We had a great time and made many good memories!
