Girls weekend!!!

Jeff went away for the weekend for a men's bible conference so we got to have a girls weekend! We started the weekend by going out to dinner at Chili's and then watching a movie.
Today we experimented with making edible playdoh with marshmallows! They got huge in the microwave!
Surprisingly, the dough actually turned out pretty cool and Claire had fun cutting out some shapes.
Doing experiments at home is just not as fun as doing them at Little Beakers. After doing a little shopping at Claire's, we went to Little Beakers for a few hours of creativity!

As you can tell, we didn't run out of experiments to do and we had a great time!
When we got home we went for a 3 mile bike ride and then had to rest for a while and watch another movie. The dogs liked having Claire to snuggle with!
After the movie, Claire found some more energy and we went outside to play on the trampoline! I learned a new game called Dead Man. I also got some lessons in gymnastics. Good thing my teacher let me take a pass on most of the moves and I only had to do a forward roll and attempt a cartwheel and handstand! So thankful for the time I got to spend with my beautiful daughter! God sure has blessed us with so much more than we deserve!

Claire and Addisyn

Claire had one of her BFFs over this past weekend and the girls had a blast. Of course, no sleepover is complete without making some cupcakes (independently)!
What are two girls to do while they wait for the cupcakes to cool? Play a game where they have to follow instructions using the arms and hands of the person behind them! It was quite funny to watch!
Frosting the cupcakes is the best part, aside from eating them that is!
Once the baking was completed, we went bowling. The girls had a great time and worked hard to get high scores!

This is the move you get when Claire scores a strike!
High five for a job well done!

Name that Book 3rd grade champions!

On January 26th, Claire competed in the Name That Book competition for 3rd grade. There is a list of 100 books, The librarian reads a few sentences from one of the books and the group has 15 seconds to guess the title of the book. The title has to be exactly how it is written on the list, including the words "a", "an", and "the". There were 8 groups competing in 3rd grade.
As soon as the librarian finished the passage, the girls would huddle together to come up with the answer.
After 10 rounds, Claire's group won for her grade and only missed one of the the 10 questions! They moved on to the school competition last night going against the 2nd place 3rd grade team, two 4th grade teams, and two 5th grade teams. They didn't win but still did a wonderful job! What an accomplishment! Now that they know what it is all about, they can start reading for next year!
We had to surprise Claire with a little congratulations sign when she got home. We are so proud of all of the effort she put in to this competition. It has been so fun watching her get so excited about reading!
