A girl's morning with friends

Claire had two good friends over for a play date this morning. The girls decided to do the 3 marker challenge. They all colored the same picture but had to use only the 3 markers they drew without looking. To be sure no one cheated of another, they set up boxes to block the view!
The finished products, created by Alexis, Claire, and Allison!
Then the girls picked out some crayon colors and we used a hair dryer to decorate glass ball ornaments. This turned out really cool and they were all excited to hang them on their trees at home!

The girls showing off their ornaments!

Then, because Jeff is a push over, they got to eat a bunch of disgusting gummies. They got a pizza gummy, a burger gummy, a hotdog gummy, and a sour burger gummy. They did a taste test to and rated them. Pretty fun to sit back and watch them do the taste test! What a fun morning!

It's Field Day at Black Elementary!

Today the kids FINALLY got to do field day. The past two times the school has tried, it got rained out! It was fun to watch them all get super excited to do some not so exciting events! This one required Claire to run from one cone to the other, hula hoop 3 times, place the hula hoop back over the cone and run back.
Throw the Chicken...literally, that is all they did. Throw the chicken and then run to get it and bring it to the next kid in line.

For this event, Claire had to sit backwards on the scooter with the pig in her lap. Then she had to push the scooter with her feet to go around a cone and then back to the line for the next child to have a turn. This one actually looked like a little work!

This event required Claire to toss a frisbie into the hula hoops. If it landed in the middle one, she got 5 points, in the outer ones she got 1 point.
Kick the Cow...they used a soft cow as a soccer ball to go down to a cone and around the cone, then back to the line.

I think these 3 girls are the teacher's pets!!!!

Derby car racing!

Our church put on a derby car race for one of their Wednesday night kids activities. You can purchase a pack that came with the car shape, wheels, and axles. Then you had to create it how you wanted to make it go as fast as possible on the racetrack at church. After watching a Youtube video and talking through their ideas with Jeff, Claire and Karsen got to work designing their cars. Jeff did a wonderful job of letting them figure things out and think through their ideas.

The finished cars!!! They both came in weighing exactly 5 ounces! Claire named hers the Mermaid and Karsen called hers Holo. Claire ended up coming in 4th place and Karsen in 6th. The funny part is that another friend, Addison H from swim, decided to join the Wednesday night program the week before the car race. Jeff got her a car kit and took about 30 min to slap together a car. Turns out, this care came in 1st place! Addison was super embarrassed when she had to go up to the front to claim a huge trophy for something she didn't even make! It is a story we will remember for a long time!

Roller skating birthday party!

Claire went to her friend Addison Vasquez's birthday party today at the roller skating rink and had a blast. She even got Jeff out on the rink!
I asked Claire for a cute picture and this is what she gave me!
The first round was pretty slow, but by the end of the party, she was catching on and getting the hang of being on roller skates.
Claire and Addison Hicks helped each other around the rink.
These two share a special bond! Thankful for their friendship!
Claire and her two Addie friends! What a fun birthday party!
