Feeding the police horses!

Today we went to feed the horses that are trained and used by the Houston Police Department downtown. Unfortunately most of the horses were gone due to the Superbowl tomorrow, but we did get to feed 6 horses and got a wonderful tour of the place by some amazing workers there.
Claire and her friend Savanna were a bit skeptical at first, but warmed up really quickly. This horse, Cody, was very gentle and the girls soon became comfortable feeding him and petting him.

This horse was a bit more feisty, but Claire got over her fear and fed him anyway!
Our tour guide brought us through the room where they keep the feed for the horses, along with the medicine and vitamins.
Then we got to see where they keep the saddles and equipment for the horses.
Finally, we went out to the arena to learn about how they train the horses and got to watch our tour guide do some playing with the horses in this area.
This was the main horse in the arena and he wasn't afraid to let everyone know he was boss! He made sure the other horses didn't try to get his carrots!
I think Grandma enjoyed having some time with these beautiful horses!
By the end of our visit, Claire was pretty brave and even fed the boss horse some carrots by herself!
A quick picture in the front of the stables. Now Claire says she wants to actually ride a horse. I am hopeful we can make that happen while Grandma is still with us.
