I had the privilege of taking Claire away for a weekend to do Passport to Purity. It is a Christian program designed for mother/daughter to go through together and covers many areas a preteen faces going into middle school and high school. It began Friday night, continued with two lessons Saturday morning, a quick lunch and a special afternoon activity of our choice. Then we had two more lessons before dinner. This was such a special weekend and I will treasure it forever. I pray Claire will treasure it too, even the uncomfortable parts and that she will remember what she learned when the times get tough.
Each lesson came with a visual/craft to help emphasize the main point. In this lesson, we learned about the value of choosing good, healthy friends and the effects others have on us forever.
The special activity I surprised Claire with was going to Painting with a Twist. The day we went, they had a mother and baby giraffe painting. It was so much fun and was something neither of us had ever done before!
Saturday evening we got to get dressed up and go to a special dinner together. I let Claire pick the place and plug it into the GPS and guide me to where we were going. I didn't know what she had chosen until we arrived! She picked Olive Garden and we had a wonderful dinner!
