Mid-February we had the coldest freeze since we have lived in Texas. It got down to 11 degrees overnight two nights in a row! We lost power for 42 hours and our house got down to 40 degrees inside. We were super blessed to have a generator and enough gas to keep it running so we could keep the pool equipment from freezing and busting. We plugged in the fridge and the only space heater we had. We kept the heater in our bedroom which allowed that room to stay around 50 degrees and we spent most of our time in the bedroom just to stay kind of warm. All of our plants died and I am pretty sure our trees won't make it either, but we have a house to shelter us and we are all healthy and safe, so God has blessed us greatly!
Of couse Claire had to get out and make some snow angels! She did a pretty great job!
No salt on the roads down here...the roads were solid ice. Thankfully Jeff brought me into work both days and there was minimal traffic.
This is how we dressed to keep warm in the cold house. During the day it didn't even feel cold outside because inside was almost the same temperature!
