Claire's knee surgery
Claire had MPFL reconstruction along with the MACI procedure (cartilage replacement on her femur using her own cells) on June 30th. She did amazing and we were overwhelmed with just how wonderfully she did! She never had any pain during her recovery, other than sore muscles after physical therapy. She was a trooper and did her CPM machine faithfully and followed all the rules for recovery. Six full weeks with zero weight on her right leg or foot...no driving, no going anywhere without crutches. We got to spend alot of time together and those are memories I will cherist. We did lots of crafting, cooking and baking, pool time, and gaming. She had many visits from friends and received many get well gifts that kept her busy. Feeling super grateful for her attitude during this recovery period and for the success of this surgery. She is just now (as of mid-September) starting to get around without crutches but still needs her brace almost 100% of the time. She is super happy to be driving again and to be able to put full weight on her leg. Now the work of building back her muscles in her right leg begin, which means physical therapy is about to get tough....
