Claire ended up scratching her cornea while at camp on Monday evening. She went to see the nurse who flushed her eye and told her to sleep and see if it felt better by morning. Claire woke Tuesday morning in extreme pain, stating her eye felt like it was on fire and it hurt to open it at all, it even hurt to open her good eye. Here amazing counselors got her to the nurse and she spent all day and overnight in with Nurse Brooke. She called a few times on Tuesday with updates and I got to talk to Claire. This was extremely hard for me because Claire was crying in pain and lonely because she was missing out on all the fun with her friends. With frequent eye flushes, ice packs to her eye, Tylenol, and an eye patch, Claire was able to get out on Wednesday afternoon and join her cabin. She spent most of that afternoon and evening observing while hanging with her generous counselors who made her feel comfortable and loved! By Thursday morning Claire was able to go without the eye patch and was able to join back in the fun with her friends. I got a call Thursday afternoon and could just hear in Claire's voice how happy she was to be back to joining in the fun! Praise God for answered prayer!
Here Claire is with her two counselors, Audrey and Jenna.
Today at pick up we got to meet the awesome Nurse Brooke who took Claire under her wing and helped her get through this challenge with flying colors! What a wonderful woman and we are so thankful she was the camp nurse this week!
On my walk with the dogs Thursday morning, the sun rise was shining through a hole in the clouds and the rays were coming through. It felt like God was speaking to me, showing me that He hears my prayers and that He has Claire under His wing! Also I found a quarter! My Dad told me before he died that he would toss coins down from Heaven whenever we needed to be comforted or needed a reminder that he was also watching over us! What an amazing testimony to answered prayer and to finding God all around us!
