We had the day off today and decided to head to the zoo. I was suppose to have jury duty so Jeff and Claire were going to drop me off and spend time at the zoo until I finished, but that got moved to another day. Since we already had zoo tickets purchased, I got a ticket and we spent a few hours enjoying the animals. Who wouldn't want to spend a few hours in 100 degrees watching animals?!
We got to the zoo right when it opened so many of the animals were very active!
It's a rough life for this gorilla! He was probably tired of people watching him!
Claire had to ride the carousel one last time! She was a bit worried she was the oldest kid on the ride, but wanted to do it anyway. I think she quickly found out it wasn't as great as she remembered!
This lion fountain was one of Claire's favorites at the zoo when she was little. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to snap a quick photo!
The best we could do for a family photo today...
It was very warm. We were thankful that the zoo has lots of shade and thankful we brought our cooling towel and neck fans!
Claire and her Snugglebunny (Grandpa Larry) have a photo in this bubble from many years ago! She was happy to go and get another one today!
It was a fun couple of hours reliving the old days when we came to the zoo with Claire almost weekly. I think she would have enjoyed it a bit more had it not been so hot. She heads to camp on Sunday and there is no air conditioning; temps during the day to be up to 106! I told her today was just a warm-up and preview of her entire next week!
